There’s a Right Way to Fish

We follow the sustainability tenants put forth by our sister company, Bristol Wave Seafoods, because we believe that we owe it to ourselves, our customers, and our planet to do things the right way.

Longline fishing offers several tremendous advantages—the most important of which is the fisherman’s ability to take timely and protective action to ensure that only the right fish are harvested. This helps sustain mature fish populations, fosters sustainable population growth, and removes the risk of unhealthy fish being sold for human consumption.

Responsible

In addition to protecting our fish, our planet, and our customers, longline fishing offers the kind of long-term, thoughtful business advantages every seafood supplier should take notice of. Longline fishing minimizes any stress experienced by the animal, which in turn improves the quality of the meat. Our method of fishing means we can offer our customers reliable excellence.

Alaska Native Owned

In addition to how we treat our fish, Bristol Wild Seafood Company stands for good business. As a small business and Alaska Native-owned organization, we provide social and economic distributions to the shareholders of Bristol Bay Native Corporation. Within an area approximately the size of the state of Oklahoma, there are just 7,400 residents—meaning that many of the communities are both extremely remote and among the nation’s most underserved. While sustaining our region’s economy, practicing sustainable commercial fishing within the region creates a bridge between the heritage of our past, and the future we aim to grow towards.
